The Prudential-Rutgers Partnership

For many years Prudential Financial has been a good neighbor and benefactor of Rutgers University, and of its Newark campus in particular. In 1999 Dr. Harold Davis, then Chief Ethics Officer of the Prudential, assisted faculty from the Rutgers Business School faculty and the Center for Global Change and Governance in organizing a conference on how issues of human rights and corruption affect multinational companies. The Prudential sponsored the conference, and since then has supported the Prudential Lecture at Rutgers. Every semester this lecture series brings to campus an emerging leader in the field of business ethics to deliver a public lecture and participate in an informal seminar for Rutgers faculty and graduate students.

Last year, the Prudential Foundation made a generous gift to the University’s capital campaign. Our Center was the main beneficiary, but the gift also supports the Margery Somers Foster Archive at the Douglass College library and meets other University needs.

The Center today works with Oliver Quinn, the new Chief Ethics Officer at the Prudential on our projects and some that are internal to Prudential.
